Went dress shopping with my new gal pal today for her prom in David's Bridal.

We both found our dresses at an amazingly bargain price and trust me, they are not cheap looking dresses.

We just got lucky to find those 2 stunning dresses priced below $50 each *gasp*.

No I did not get the red dress since it's not 'wedding photo' appropriate. Just tried it on for fun but still love it very much. *hint, hint*. Well I have no events to attend so no need for a statement dress like that.

WINE - when it comes to wine, I'm not the type of person who goes after branded, well known, expensive wines. I'm the type who likes to try all different types, brands and price range of wines. To me, brands and price don't really matter. What I care more is if they sit right on my palate. Today I happen to hop into Safeway for a little grocery shopping while my laundries are having a jolly good time in the laundromat and the husband decided to make it up for the lost Sunday that he caused. So we decided to grab some wine to go with our dinner. Lookie, lookie what we found:

For only $4.98. It is amazing! I can smell it's lush, fruity, rosey aroma as I spin the wine glass and ripe apricot lingers in my mouth after I tasted it. It didn't taste as sweet as the other Moscato that we had so it's perfect for me. I like sweet fruity wines that aren't too sweet. However, I still think it might be a little too sweet for some of you out there. Anyway, I think I downed most of the wine since it's too good to be true :D

Since MoofMoof and I decided not to have a wedding ceremony, we thought it might be nice to just have a photoshoot of me in a wedding dress and him in suits or some sort to commemorate our marriage. We've booked our photoshoot with new and rising photog JenniferTai's Photo Artistry (check out her work, she's really talented) for next month. Btw she's from Malaysia too :D .

Since it's only one month away, I have to start hunting down a dress to avoid having to settle down for some last minute drape. I'm looking for something simple, carefree, summer-ry, not too formal and yet elegant. MoofMoof and I found a few that we like and now I need your help, so tell me which you like best. Tq very much.

-| Weekend BBQ |-

Sunny, windy, chilly, fun, crazy, hot dogs, cheese burgers, chicken wings, salad, beers, delicious, tiring - those are words to summarize our barbeque party in Golden Garden.

Called my mom later in the day to wish her Happy Mother's Day. No celebration or whatsoever here in Seattle. MIL too busy to be bothered. Haven't seen her the whole day. The husband says they never celebrate. End of story.

p/s: Miss my family back home so very much. They are still the best!

Kiam Chai Ark (sour mustard duck soup) is one of my favourite soup. I can even eat it with plain white rice. It's a Malaysian Nyonya dish that my grandmother serves every Chinese New Year. The recipe I'm giving today is not the original recipe but one of my variation.

Ingredients (makes 4-5 servings) :
  • 1/2 duck cut into pieces, wash and drain
  • 1 packet sour mustard which you can find in most asian market like Ranch 99. Chop in pieces and rinse once
  • 2 tomatoes cut into sixth each
  • 1 packet of soft tofu cut into 1 inch cube
  • 1 Onion chop into cubes
  • 6 slices of ginger
Directions :
  1. Put 1.5 litres of water in a pot. Add the duck and bring to a boil.
  2. Add the sour mustard, tomatoes, onion and ginger. Simmer for half an hour.
  3. Then add the soft tofu and simmer for another half an hour.
  4. Finally add salt to taste if necessary.
Serving suggestions : Rice and 1 or 2 side dish.

I've not taken any picture to accompany this recipe but I hope you enjoy it nonetheless.
